• TAXI RATES. A lot of tourists warn about taxi rip-offs the minute you disembark from the airport's departure area. Prepaid taxi rates cost around 300 rupees, but metered ones (and you'll be lucky to find a driver who's not that devilish to agree to “go by the meter”), depending on the distance, can go as cheap as 50 rupees. Rates beyond a thousand rupees are definitely a rip-off unless you've made arrangements to hire both the taxi and the driver for a day of commuting and shopping.
• TRAIN TICKETS. When you want to experience what it's like to commute as you hop from one shopping site to another, try taking the train. For distances that fall below 1,300 miles, second-class train seats cost you lesser than 480 rupees. If you get first-class train seats, expect the cost to be five-fold more expensive. If you like your first train ride and can't wait for the next one, then consider buying a rail way pass for unlimited travels within a given timeframe.
